Finch started playing softball as at the age of five. The father of her daughter Doug was her first pitching coach. Jennie first used the Finch Windmill in the year 10. When she was in high school, she pitched six no-hitters and 13 games that were perfect. Her next stop was at the University of Arizona where she was an All-American three times and a first baseman. The nation voted her the Most Outstanding Softball Player in 2001 by the Wildcats when they won the championship. She also won in 2002.
